Effects of exercise on liver health

Physical exercise does not have an unfavorable effect on the liver health, although it could cause heatstroke syndrome in long-distance races if you do not drink enough water.

Exercising today is more common than it seems, and our body adapts to a hectic lifestyle. Driving to a better mood. Increasing physical resistance and also activates your body, allowing you to work better internally.

The liver regulates most chemicals levels in the blood and secretes a substance called bile, which carries waste and breaks down fats from the small intestine during digestion. Its principal function is to eliminate toxins from our body time that affect our general health.

Exposure for a prolonged time to the damaged liver can lead to the formation of scar tissue. Which replaces healthy liver tissue, and results in chronic damage (cirrhosis). It represents a loss of muscle mass and strength. So doing physical exercise can be positive to prevent this type of disease and stay healthy.

So, here the question arises, is practicing any physical activity beneficial or harmful?

Playing sports does not have harmful effects on the liver, except when consuming anabolics, shared syringes, or suffering hepatitis. Of course, note that people who suffer from acute or chronic hepatitis can exercise any sport that does not cause excessive fatigue.

Likewise, people having a high level of selenoprotein P – a protein present in the blood plasma and secreted by the liver, do not respond equally to the benefits of exercise.  This protein prevents the improvement of glucose levels (sugar ) and triggers irregular symptoms such as double or blurred vision, fast or pounding heartbeat, irritability, among others.

In such a scenario, the body begins to develop insulin resistance, which will occasionally lead to obesity, deprived physical activity, chronic stress, high-dose steroid use, polycystic ovary syndrome, Cushing’s disease, and more.

Therefore, the benefits that physical activity has on liver function are:- – Physical exercise prevents fatty liver since it promotes weight loss and even improves transaminases (enzymes located inside cells of organs such as the liver and fulfill a metabolic function in the body). – Physical activity is essential for patients with hepatitis C since it reduces liver enzymes and fat in the liver, which is frequently associated with this hepatitis.- People who suffer from liver cirrhosis have a sedentary physical style;  if they begin to exercise, their physical, muscular, and quality of life can improve drastically. At least, starting with 3 hours of weekly physical activity, among the exercises are walking, jogging, resistance circuits, stretching, among others.

A balanced diet, good exercise routine have positive results in cardiopulmonary functions such as musculoskeletal. In the long term becomes a better functional state and a greater sense of well-being for the liver and adjacent organs.
