Many of us use to start our days in the same way. With a cup of coffee or tea, to the point that it has become indispensable. Like brushing our teeth when we get up or getting dressed to go to work.

Caffeine has a stimulating effect, even when it does not accumulate in the body. Remains for several hours before being eliminated, and its effects cease.

Its effect is to increase attention span and decrease the feeling of sleepiness. Effect that many seek in lifestyle, but for others, is reason enough to reject a cup, especially at certain times of the day as in the night before sleeping.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends keeping caffeine consumption at 400 mg per day or less, as pure and highly concentrated caffeine products pose a significant threat to public health in the United States.

Just one teaspoon of pure powdered caffeine can contain the same amount of caffeine as 28 cups of coffee, and a half cup of a highly concentrated caffeinated liquid product contains the equivalent of more than 20 cups of coffee. These are toxic amounts that can have serious health consequences.” the FDA highlights.

Caffeine consumption can delay sleep for up to 40 minutos longer than normal

Now, the quality of sleep varies in each person and depends a lot on their daytime functioning. Sleep disorders are a significant public health issue. Since the majority of persons who suffer from them have factors of poor health and a poor quality of life.

Due to frequent consumption of caffeine, dependence on it may develop. Which causes withdrawal symptoms in our body such as headache, nausea, fatigue, drowsiness, dysphoric or irritable mood, and difficulty concentrating.

That is why; high caffeine consumption impacted our quality of sleep, as caffeine can mimic the functioning of a brain chemical called adenosine. As a result, as we take more coffee. The adenosine molecules are blocked, and we do not experience the tiredness that leads to sleep

The effect of this stimulant begins 30 to 40 minutes after drinking coffee. But they can last up to 6 hours. It all depends on the age and type of metabolism of each person. Recommended drinking the last cup of coffee a day. About 4 or 5 4-5 hours before going to bed since it is a reasonable time for the body to process its effects and not alter the sleep clock.
